The Board of Directors of Woonsocket's favorite charity Adopt-a-Family, Inc., met on August 2 to begin working towards Distribution Week 2011 which this year will be the week of December 11. A week when donors and volunteers come together to bring holiday joy to more than 2,000 children in the neediest families in Woonsocket.
Family Resources, the agency that takes the applications from all those apply, began accepting applications on September 15 and will continue doing so until November 18, 2011. As of this writing approximately 500 families have been matched with donors. By the end of November 18 we expect to receive applications from another 500-600 families.
If you would like to help, you can do so by: adopting a family, making a cash donation or volunteering during Distribution Week December 11-17, 2011.
Adopt-a-Family is a little program run by a small group of volunteers, a group that swells to a small army of nearly 200 during Distribution Week in December. If you've been reading about us over the years and always thought "Someday I'm going to get involved with that Adopt-a-Family program in Woonsocket!" Make this year the year.
